Elise Freeland is a NALA Certified Paralegal and the owner of Freeland Paralegal Solutions. She has a background in civil defense litigation, mortgage lending and foreclosure, insurance defense, personal injury, and patent law.
Elise cut her teeth in 2011 at a foreclosure defense firm, where she supported a team of attorneys in execution of foreclosure of home equity loans, prepared applications to foreclose, corresponded with title insurers and clients, and handled title policy claims.
In 2012, she joined a medium-sized firm in downtown Dallas, working as a legal assistant in civil defense litigation, primarily in mortgage lending and foreclosure and insurance defense, where she gained skills in both state and federal jurisdictions. There Elise was able to put her innate organizational skills to work, handling a multiplicity of daily tasks in a timely and efficient way, such as calendaring, electronic filing and service, and booking attorney travel. She gained a reputation as a quick learner and a go-getter with an attention to detail and a cheerful manner. She remains grateful to her “work mama,” Leisa, the legal assistant and friend who trained her and provided superior foundational knowledge in the field of legal support.
In 2015, she received her Certified Paralegal credential by sitting for the national exam administered by NALA (National Association of Legal Assistants). In 2016, she became a paralegal at the same firm, gaining experience in drafting pleadings and discovery, e-discovery management, title searches, and subpoenas.
At the end of 2019, Elise began working with a small patent law firm, gaining experience in patent litigation and IPR (inter-partes review) proceedings, as well as firm-related tasks such as billing, web development, and marketing.
Today, she owns Freeland Paralegal Solutions, a contract paralegal company that provides a wide assortment of services to attorneys. Because Elise has great affection for her past “work families,” she enjoys the opportunity to work with some of her favorite attorneys across multiple firms. Most of her attorney clients are solo practitioners and boutique law firms, but she is happy to provide services for larger firms as well. Because she works remotely from her own office, she can assist law firms anywhere in the country.
Elise has a bachelor’s degree in Art History from Texas Tech University, where she graduated magna cum laude.
Please note that Elise works exclusively with licensed attorneys and cannot offer legal advice or assist consumers seeking help with legal matters.
